Ernest Howard McCabe 81 ,of Rockaway Beach Missouri died due to complications of a stroke on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab, Hollister. Missouri. A private service will be held by his family.
Ernie was born on Thursday, August 21st , 1941 in Hugo, Oklahoma, to Paul and Viola (Atchley) McCabe. After graduating high school in Wichita, Kansas, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1961 where he was a journalist in the Philippines. He went on to start a career at Panhandler Eastern where he retired after 35+ years.
Ernie was a generous person who not only helped family, he served on local boards and with his wife, Jan, opened a food pantry for many years in Rockaway Beach, Mo.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Anderson) McCabe; brother, Paul L McCabe and sister, Faith McCabe.
He is survived by his fiancé, Mary Johnson (Lott); son, Michael McCabe and wife, Michele of Rockaway Beach, MO; grandson, Cory McCabe of Springfield, MO; granddaughters , Misty Mills of Prairie Grove, AR. and Jessica Lowe of Rockaway Beach; twelve great-grandchildren.
