Ruth Tilley, 77, of Kissee Mills, died October 14, 2019, in the Forsyth Nursing and Rehab Center. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 12:00 noon Thursday, October 17, 2019, in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth. Graveside will follow in the Helphrey Cemetery, Taneyville.
Ruth Vivian Tilley was born Thursday, October 30, 1941, in Ava, MO to Edmon Oliver and Mayme Edna (Heckman) Hall. She attended school in Ava and at an early age moved where her daddy’s work took them—Kansas City, California, Iowa, and Pennsylvania. In 1958, she met and married Etzel Tilley in Rock Island, IL. In the early 70’s, they bought property here to settle down. Ruth was a factory worker, waitress and later a Home Care Giver. She retired in the 80’s after twenty years of work.
Ruth was the glue that held everything together. She was always there to be a caregiver to her husband, brother and mother in their time of need She could always make a dollar stretch a mile. She loved the outdoors and the family noted that if it was in the outdoors, she could hunt it, skin it and cook it. One of the grandsons commented that he wanted to find a wife just like grandma to marry. Not only did she enjoy the outdoors by hunting, fishing and camping, she was also a wonderful cook.
