Vina Lavern (Smith) Swadley, 82 of Bradleyville, MO passed peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2019, in the early morning hours. There are no services being held per her request and arrangements.

Vina Lavern Swadley was born Sunday, September 26, 1937, in Bradleyville, MO to Albert and Golda (Wright) Smith. She attended Bradleyville School graduating from there as a proud senior. Lavern worked in Kansas City at Poindexter as a secretary. Later marrying Robert Neil Hemmer and having two children, a son, Rodman Albert Hemmer and a daughter, Jackie Lynn Hemmer. She later moved back home to the Smith Farm in Bradleyville and later meeting and marrying Charles Raymond (Ted) Barnett and having one daughter, Linda Yvonne Barnett. During this time, starting a longstanding career at Hagels Garment Factory in Forsyth, MO until she retired. In later years, she married Oren Emmitt Swadley.

Lavern was best known for her quilts, dolls, doll collections, crochet work, seamstress abilities and giving to others. She enjoyed her family, flowers, word search books and her quilting books.

She leaves behind a sister, Teddie Coulter and husband ,Charles (Chuck); a sister-in-law, Beverly Smith; one son, Rodman Hemmer; two daughters, Jackie Hodges and husband, Jerry, Linda Derr and husband, David; grandsons, Daniel Gillespie, Jerry Gillespie and wife, Marie and their children Caiden and Xavier; William Beasley and wife, Taryn and their children Sophie and Shona and Willow and granddaughter Brandy Beasley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Golda Smith; two brothers, Bert and Garland Smith; brother-in-law Raymond Swadley; one sister Mary Sue Swadley and many other family members

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home Forsyth, MO.
