Don Clotworthy, 90, of Forsyth, died Sunday, November 17, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 22, 2019, in the Forsyth Community Presbyterian Church with Pastor Dennis Winzenried officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
John Donald Clotworthy was born Friday, May 3, 1929, in Eldon, MO to Russell and Ruby (Biggers) Clotworthy. After graduating from Eldon High School with the class of 1947, he enlisted in the U. S. Army. After eighteen months of service, he attended Southwest Missouri State in 1948. As a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, he made lifelong friends. Get-togethers were still being celebrated with the surviving gang of three. He graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in education. He coached and taught industrial arts. He left teaching and traveled for Wilson Sporting Goods for a short time. He accepted a position as the administrator of the Osteopathic Hospital in Springfield, MO and then later in Clinton, MO. In 1971, he changed professions and purchased an Independent Insurance Agency in Forsyth. He retired in 1999 and sold the agency to enjoy a life of golf, travel and being with his family.
He was a member of the Forsyth Community Presbyterian Church where he walked his two daughters down the aisle. As an active member of the community, he served on the Forsyth School Board and was also a past member of the Forsyth Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 68 years; two daughters, Abbie Cobb of Lake of the Ozarks, Amy Funk and husband, Chuck of Lake of the Ozarks; a sister, Lois Clotworthy of Eldon, MO; four grandchildren, Cayce Cobb Grote and husband, Adam of Leawood KS. Ty Cobb and wife, Cindy of Akron, OH, Payton and Jordan Funk from Lake of the Ozarks and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Polly Clotworthy; a son-in-law Steve Cobb; a brother, Harold Clotworthy and a sister Virginia Jasinski.
